My Governing Philosophy

My goal at the federal level is straightforward: ensure that states maintain control over the issues closest to their communities, while Congress focuses on solving genuinely federal problems. Washington works best when it empowers — not overrides.

🏠 Home Ownership & Housing
Economy

Every American deserves the opportunity to own a home — and this isn't just policy for me, it's personal. I'm living through this challenge right now, just like thousands of families across Utah. I believe the federal government's role in housing is to support and resource states and local communities, not to override them. Zoning decisions, development plans, and housing policy belong at the local level where leaders actually know their communities. At the federal level, I'll fight to reduce regulations that drive up construction costs, cut red tape that delays new housing, and ensure federal resources are directed to the states that need them most. The people closest to the problem are best equipped to solve it.

💰 Cost of Living & Inflation
Economy

Inflation is a tax on working families, and it's caused by government overspending and artificial restrictions on American production. I will oppose reckless federal spending and push for a balanced budget — but the fastest way to bring prices down is to increase supply. When we unleash American energy production, reduce barriers for manufacturers, and get out of the way of farmers and small producers, we create more of everything — and more supply means lower prices across the board for every Utah family. The federal government didn't build this economy, the American worker did. My job in Congress is to make sure Washington stops making their job harder.

🌾 Rural Area Support
Local Issues

Rural Utah is the backbone of this state, and it's been ignored by Washington for too long. I'll fight for reliable broadband infrastructure, strong water rights protections, and access to healthcare in rural communities. On agriculture specifically, I will push for federal deregulation that lowers the barriers of entry for new farmers and removes the regulatory weight that is forcing experienced farmers out of the industry. Any energy or land development in our region must respect the water rights and livelihoods of the farming communities that depend on that land — Washington should be making it easier to live and work in rural Utah, not harder.

🏢 Small Business Growth
Economy

Small businesses are the engine of Utah's economy. I'll work to reduce the federal burden on small employers and oppose any new mandates that make it harder to hire, grow, or stay open. When we increase production and create more jobs here in Utah, we strengthen our communities and our economy from the ground up. The federal government should be clearing the path for entrepreneurs — not standing in it.

🏥 Healthcare
Social Policy

Let's be honest — we don't have a healthcare problem in America, we have an insurance problem. Insurance companies are the ones setting the costs, the deductibles, and the terms. Anyone who has ever paid cash for a medical procedure knows exactly what I'm talking about — the price difference is staggering, and that gap is the real issue. I support free-market solutions that increase transparency, expand Health Savings Accounts, and break the barriers that prevent real price competition. Patients deserve to know what something costs before they receive it. States should have maximum flexibility to design programs that work for their people, and I will oppose any push toward a government-run system that removes what little choice patients still have.

🌐 Immigration
National Security

Immigration is personal to me — both sets of my grandparents immigrated to this country, and I have seen firsthand the hard work, sacrifice, and love for America that legal immigrants bring. I want to make it easier to immigrate legally while maintaining strict, fair standards. That means fixing the broken legal pathway so people don't feel forced into illegal entry, while securing our border through every available means and enforcing our laws firmly and consistently. I oppose amnesty and sanctuary city policies that undermine the rule of law — and I believe a secure border and a welcoming legal process are not opposites. We can and must have both.

🔫 Gun Rights & Safety
Rights

The Second Amendment is not negotiable. As a certified firearms instructor, I understand both the importance of gun rights and the responsibility that comes with them — and I believe that balance is best maintained by informed, law-abiding citizens, not federal mandates. I will oppose any legislation that infringes on the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, including red flag laws, magazine bans, and mandatory buyback programs. Law-abiding Utahns should never be punished for the crimes of others. The answer to violence is enforcing the laws we already have and investing in responsible firearms education — not stripping rights from the people who respect them most.

👶 Abortion & Life
Social Policy

I am proudly pro-life. I believe life begins at conception and that every life deserves protection. I support policies that protect the unborn and will oppose taxpayer funding of abortion at the federal level. Decisions of this magnitude belong as close to the people as possible — at the state and community level, not dictated from Washington.

📊 Federal Budget & Spending
Economy

Our national debt is a national security crisis. I will push for a balanced budget amendment, oppose continuing resolutions that fund bloated government indefinitely, and demand independent, transparent accountability for every dollar of federal spending. We have seen what happens when there is no real oversight — fraud flourishes and hardworking taxpayers foot the bill. I will fight to put permanent, nonpartisan safeguards in place that protect against exploitation of federal funds, cut wasteful programs, and eliminate duplicative agencies.

Energy & Environment
Infrastructure

Utah is rich in natural resources, and responsible American energy development is good for our economy and our national security. I support an all-of-the-above energy strategy that includes oil, gas, coal, nuclear, and renewables — chosen by the market, not mandated by government. I believe we can expand domestic energy production while respecting the water rights, public lands, and agricultural communities that define Utah's 3rd district. Utah deserves a seat at the table on every federal lands decision that affects our state — not a mandate handed down from Washington bureaucrats who have never set foot here.

🎓 Education
Social Policy

Parents — not the federal government — should be in charge of their children's education. We are seeing it play out in real time: families are choosing homeschooling at higher and higher rates every year because they are not seeing the value in public education. That is a signal that should not be ignored. One of the core issues is that our schools are built almost entirely around preparing students for higher education — but not every student is headed to college, and even those who are need more than academics to succeed in life. I will advocate for schools to implement more life-based curriculum: financial literacy, trades, practical skills, and real-world preparation that gives every student a foundation to thrive regardless of the path they choose. I will fight to reduce Washington's footprint in education.

🛡️ National Security & Military
National Security

A strong America is a safe world. I support a fully funded, combat-ready military and will oppose any efforts to cut defense in the name of social programs. Our veterans have earned every benefit they receive, and I'll fight to make sure the VA delivers on its promises. I believe in peace through strength — and that America must lead on the world stage, not retreat from it.
